Why did the chicken suit thief cross the road? To go to wing night at the pub on the other side (but it ended in arrest, of course)
- Man spotted in feathered cape and hat allegedly stolen from costume store
- Suspected thief was sat alone at bar singing when police arrived
A Missouri man dressed in a feathery yellow bird costume was arrested at a pub on Thursday night over a break in at a fancy dress store.
Police were called to Kansas City pub the Cashew, which was hosting its weekly wings night, after reports that a man had shattered the window of a nearby shop.
The suspected thief was seated at the bar alone, singing and wearing a feathery cape and headdress which police say had been stolen in the raid.

Bird brained idea: A man in a feathered cape and bonnet was arrested at a Missouri pub over theft claims
After a brief scuffle the man was arrested and restrained on a stretcher, while one of the officers returned the outfit to Kansas City Costume Co.
'We heard someone breaking into the costume shop next door,' pub manager Chad Baber told ABC News.
Moments after hearing a window being shattered, the suspected thief walked into the pub with the two items he has been accused of stealing.
'He just sat there and didn’t order any drinks. Some people went up and took pictures with him,' Baber said.
The bar manager added: 'He kept screaming "I am not resisting arrest" when police approached him.'
Arrest: Four police officers handcuff the man at the bar, while bemused customers look on
Restrained: The suspected thief is handcuffed on the ground outside the Cashew pub, which was hosting its weekly wing night
Unexpected: Witness Autumn Morningsky tweeted 'Big Bird is down' after the man was arrested
Amanda Blancarte, who works at the bar, said: 'He was taking pictures with people he was a little disoriented. You can definitely tell he was not in the right mindset.'
Autumn Morningsky, who claimed to have seen the man steal the costume, said she was shocked when he returned to the scene of the crime.
'Half a dozen patrons watched him burglarize and run off in this full costume. And then he's going to come back in that same costume and sit at that same bar. I mean it's pretty ballsy,' she told Fox 4.
The police called to the incident were left bemused by the call out, and tweeted a picture of the man, with a caption: 'We arrested a guy who stole birdish costume then wore it to a bar. Just another Thurs in #KC.'
A spokesman for the Kansas City Police Department said the man appeared to be under the influence of drugs although that has not been confirmed.
He has still not been identified because he has refused to tell police what his name is.

People who were in the bar claim the man called himself 'Dirty-Dirty' and had been singing.
'There’s this guy in this really elaborate dress of some sort with a 5ft train and a huge headdress with feathers everywhere. It was brilliant,' Morningsky said.
After being restrained, he was taken to a hospital for an evaluation and is it believed he has been kept there to be treated for mental health issues
No charges have been made yet, and police said the investigation is on going.
The costume, which included a 1936 headdress and cape, had been in storage for about 20 years before it was stolen. Staff at the costume store say that it was bought from an Atlantic City show.
