Notice anything different? Megyn Kelly reveals the 'personal surprise' she had been teasing is a new short hairdo... and Twitter erupts

  • The Fox News anchor tweeted Friday about unveiling a surprise
  • On The Kelly File she debuted a new bob haircut
  • Commentators quick to add their opinion on social media
  • The look now has its own Twitter page

When Megyn Kelly teased a 'personal surprise' on her show Friday, it was easy to presume she had somehow convinced Donald Trump to take part in a second round of the GOP debate.

However the issue was less political and more ... follicle.

The Fox News anchor went live tonight with her new hairdo, chopping off the below-shoulder blonde locks she has been sporting for some time in favor of a tight bob.

And within minutes of the broadcast, the cut already had its own Twitter account.

'MegymKellyHair1' quickly announced the look was a 'favorite' of Kelly's.

The journalist has previously kept her hair quite short and wavy, as is common among female anchors, with networks preferring hair to be cut above the shoulder.

This year however Kelly let her hair grow out, with the longer style she had during the GOP debate believed to have been aided by hair extensions.

But the new style is shorter than audiences have seen of Kelly, and judging by first responses online, it suits her.

'I LOVE the new haircut @megynkelly,' wrote user Shannon Bream.

Another user, Comfortable Southern, wrote: 'Wow @megynkelly looks gorgeos tonight! Love your hair. Your natural self in beautiful ... don't need to fix what ain't broken.'

However the haters didn't take long to show themselves.

'Not that my opinion matters, but I like her long long,' wrote one user, Jenn.

Another, Lincoln's Insight, wrote: 'Megyn Kelly having a bar hair day, while again bad-mouthing Donald Trump.'

In August, Kelly was lauded for how she handled herself against Trump - another person who can make headlines for hair - at the GOP debate.

Trump slammed Kelly for grilling him on his attitude to women during the GOP.

He said 'you could see blood was coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her — wherever' during the debate.

The tycoon later said he was referring to the journalist's 'anger' and not referencing menstruation.

Kelly took the high road and brushed over the comments and controversy.

'I'm a big girl, I can handle it,' she said afterwards.

'My job is not to feel passionately about these candidates.

'My job is to go out there and ask probing questions that are hopefully smart and that help the people learn something about this person.
