Classical star drug shame as brilliant musician sentenced to house arrest for dealing cocaine in Chile

A British classical musician has been sentenced to two years’ house arrest for dealing drugs in Chile.

Alexander Harrild, 29, pleaded guilty to supplying cocaine, marijuana and ecstasy.

It is the latest blow for the brilliant musician – an ex-pupil of £35,000-a-year Dulwich College in South London – whose drug arrest was revealed in The Mail on Sunday in June. 

Harrild, son of London Symphony Orchestra’s principal tuba player Patrick Harrild, had faced up to five years in jail but was allowed to return to his £1,500-a-month flat in Santiago.

He moved to Chile several years ago and played French horn for Santiago Philharmonic Orchestra.
