First came The Great British Bake Off, with its winning recipe combining pastry and biscuits with cheeky innuendo.
Now the BBC is hoping to replicate the format – although this time contestants will be less focused on cakes and more concerned with the plates they’re served on.
The Great Pottery Throw Down will feature ten amateur potters, and is expected to be laden with double entendres that would make Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins proud.

DJ Sara Cox, right, is hosting the BBC's latest challenge show The Great Pottery Throw Down
Contestants will be tested on their ability to make a range of earthenware such as plates, cups and jugs
Just like GBBO, the contestants have to wow a number of experts as they progress through each week
While the Bake Off hosts spoke of ‘soggy bottoms’ and told contestants to ‘stop touching your dough balls’, those on the new show will be asked to demonstrate their ‘pulling’ skills – that is, shaping the handle of a cup or jug.
The programme will be hosted by DJ Sara Cox from the restored former Middleport Pottery factory near Stoke-on-Trent.
The judges are established potters Kate Malone and Keith Brymer-Jones – who could follow Bake Off’s Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood in becoming household names.
Other pottery techniques likely to be showcased include wedging – kneading clay to force out air bubbles and moisture. The show begins on BBC2 on November 3.
