This is the moment a gang of kids were caught looting from a candy bucket - before an adorable trick or treater saves the day by donating his own sweets.

Like many American families who know they won't be home on Halloween, these homeowners had decided to leave the candy outside - in front of their porch security camera - for kids to help themselves.

Trick or treaters were expected to follow the honest code - to take a few pieces each and leave the rest for the next kids.

The young looters had left nothing for the other trick or treaters but a young boy decided to save the day by donating his own sweets

But one greedy gang of children decided to take it all for themselves.

The camera's footage shows the group of four scooping out handfuls of sweets and stuffing them into their bags.

They don't stop even when a lone trick or treater wanders up the path who appears shocked to find the young looters stealing all the treats.

Then the boy spots the camera.

So the kind-hearted kid decides to donate some of his own and places a few handfuls of his own candy into the bowl for the next round of trick or treaters.

The 30 second clip has already been viewed thousands of times online with many praising the young boy's actions.

On 9gag, one user wrote: 'His parents will be proud, awesome kid.' While another added: 'That last kid is so nice. aww. I don't like kids, but he's adorable.'

A Reddit user added: 'Oh man, that kid putting candy in it after them. That makes my heart hurt.'

The footage follows another case of Halloween looting after a mother was caught on camera  taking candy by the handful and instructing her children to do the same.
