The best workout for your body in just 17 minutes: $1 million gym full of machines that are better than personal trainers
- Milon Premium Health Clubs in Queensland has no personal trainers
- Machines operate as personal trainers, set targets and track progress
- The concept, popular in Europe, is the first of its kind in Australia
It could be the fitness of the future - personal training without a personal trainer in under 20 minutes.
A new gym in Queensland's Gold Coast has ditched personal trainers and replaced them with ‘smart cards’ that contain members’ personal information such as body weight and sets their workouts.
When the cards are slotted into the exercise machines at Milon Premium Health Clubs, it provides information on members' previous sessions as well as their progress.

The machines also tell gym-goers when to start their workout and when to stop.
Milon’s co-owner Freddie Sheene told Daily Mail Australia the health club's specially tailored strength and endurance circuit can be completed on their machines in just 17-and-a-half minutes.
Mr Sheene said a big selling point for members was the ability to track their progress instantly on their smart cards.
Feedback from members have been positive since Milon - which cost $1 million to fit out - opened six weeks ago.

Mr Sheene said the health club was attracting people who had been to regular gyms and felt ‘intimidated’.
‘A lot of our members have not been members of gyms for 20 years,’ he said.
‘That is a target for us, people who haven’t been physically active for a long, who go to a normal gym and get intimidated by it.’
Mr Sheene and his two co-owners Marcin Lazinski and Amber Clark became intrigued with the idea of a gym without personal trainers when they travelled to Europe.
The gym's owners got the idea for a fitness centre without personal trainers during a trip to Germany where the concept is popular

He said the concept is hugely popular in Germany where the trio ended up buying a workout machine and shipping it to Australia.
Milon is said to be the first fitness centre of its kind in the southern hemisphere.
More equipment will arrive in the new year when the club is expected to be fully up and running.
Further information on Milon and the workouts can be found on their website.
