  • Ivan Zvonimir Cicak was receiving an award for his work in human rights
  • Mr Cicak was standing beside Croatia's president Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic
  • His trousers fell down around his ankles as the president rewarded him
  • The president moved the large award to quickly cover Mr Cicak's dignity

This is the hilarious moment when a Croatian human rights activist's trousers fell down as he was receiving an award from the country's president.

Ivan Zvonimir Cicak, who is head of the Croatian Helsinki Committee for Human Rights, was receiving an award from the nation's president Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic when his trousers malfunctioned.

Just has he was being handed the large award, Cicak's trousers disappeared from his waist and ended up slumped around his ankles.

Luckily, Grabar-Kitarovic was holding a large award in her hands which slightly helped preserve Cicak's dignity.

She did not appear to react, remaining calm despite a brief glance downwards and a smile as he stooped to pull them back up.

The award was presented to Cicak and the committee in Zagreb for their work ahead of international Human Rights Day which is marked on December 10.
