A man has been jailed for life after being convicted of raping his girlfriend's six-year-old daughter and filming the attack on his cell phone.
Virgilio Ocampo, 35, was handed down the sentence at the Bronx Supreme Court after being convicted of predatory sexual assault against a child and use of a child in a sexual performance following a three-week trial.
The attack came to light after the victim's mother went through Ocampo's cell phone a month after the attack and found the video before reporting him to police.
During sentencing, prosecutors told the court that Ocampo, from the Bronx, and the girl's mother, had been dating for around two years and he would stay over at their apartment several night a week.
In January 2014, his then-girlfriend looked through his phone and saw the attack on her daughter, who cannot be named.
Later that day she reported the attack to police before Ocampo fled the state.
He was found ten days later in Louisiana, where he was arrested and admitted the sexual assault on the video and as well as attacking her on other occasions.
According to the NBC, the child's mother had a victim impact statement read to the court, where she said her daughter was suffering from post traumatic stress disorder.
She said: ' Your Honor, this man does not deserve to ever walk these streets after all the pain he has caused my daughter, my little angel.
'He is a sick man and is a danger to women and children he would ever come in contact with.
'This monster took a six-year-old and raped her continuously. He videotaped it so he can watch it over and over again. He is disgusting. Hell is not even worthy of him.'

Ocampo was then sentenced to 25 years to life in prison by Judge Margaret Clancy.
She told him it had been horrifying to have to watch the rape on video and said he had shown no remorse.
But according to the New York Daily News, as Ocampo was led away by guards he maintained he was innocent and started asking why the victim had not testified.
'I don't understand why the District Attorney is asking for a max sentence for something that did not happen,' he claimed.
'I don't understand. Did you get any DNA proof? Why did they never bring the victim to testify?'
