This is the British holidaymaker who drowned in the bath after a night out drinking in Magaluf.

Samantha Johnson, from Blackpool, Lancashire, was found dead after staff saw water seeping under the door of her hotel room.

Police say her death was accidental and unrelated to a row she had the night before with her boyfriend who flew home early following an apparent argument.

Friends paid tribute to her on social media sites.

Leah Hincliffe said: 'Horrible because I went to school with her. RIP Samantha.' Another said: 'She was a lovely girl and will be missed.'

Staff at the three-star TRH Torrenova hotel called police after seeing water seeping under the door of her hotel room and finding her lying lifeless in her bath.

Efforts by paramedics to revive her failed.

Investigators believe she fell asleep or slipped into semi-consciousness after drinking too much during a night out.

She was found just before 11pm on Monday. An autopsy carried out yesterday morning ruled she had died from drowning.

A local report today claimed Samantha was found in another hotel guest's room, but police said they were unable to confirm the claims.

Local Civil Guard investigators say they will be drafting a report for a judge tasked with a routine investigation into her death stating they believed it was a tragic accident.

The TRH Torrenova is just 300 metres from Magaluf beach. Its website says it is ideal for 'resting and enjoying holidays.'

A string of Brit holidaymakers have lost their lives in Magaluf in accidents including hotel falls and drownings in recent years.

Most were linked at the time to the excessive consumption of drink or drugs or both.

British police were sent to Magaluf last July to patrol Magaluf's rowdy Punta Ballena area as part of a week-long trial.

They also spent a week afterwards in San Antonio on the neighbouring island of Ibiza.
