Authorities suspect that he used a liquid combination of Tomcat mouse poison, water and alcohol-based hand sanitizer to contaminate produce in three grocery stores, including Whole Foods, within the last two weeks in Ann Arbor.
According to the FBI, the stores in Ann Arbor were identified as: Whole Foods Market at 990 West Eisenhower Parkway, Meijer at 3145 Ann Arbor-Saline Road and Plum Market at 375 North Maple Road.
The FBI says the matter is still under investigation, as they are checking to see if he may have contaminated food at any other stores in the area.
It's unclear what the suspect's motive was for contaminating the food at the stores.
According to Michigan Live, the suspect admitted to spraying the liquid combination on food at the grocery stores.
The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services said in a release that samples of the mixture have been sent for further analysis.

Michigan Live reported that the chemicals within the liquid are 'a form of anti-coagulant,' which is 'similar to those found in medicines that have an anti-clotting function.'
Officials said that anyone who ingested it should not experience any adverse health effects based on what's known about the mixture.
'Out of an abundance of caution and to protect public health and food safety, I encourage consumers to dispose of any foods purchased from salad bars, olive bars and ready-to-eat hot and cold food areas from these stores between mid-March and the end of April,' Jamie Clover Adams, MDARD director, said in the release.
'Although most of these types of foods may have already been eaten or disposed of, some may still be in refrigerators or freezers.'
A team member at the Whole Foods located on West Eisenhower Parkway spotted the man pouring the liquid combination on items at the foods bars, which feature mostly salad and hot food items.
Whole Foods said that all of the food was disposed after the team member reported what they witnessed.
'Out of an abundance of caution, all salad and hot food bars were immediately closed down at the store, all food was thrown out and the store team thoroughly cleaned and sanitized all food stations, equipment and serving utensils before restocking with fresh items,' Whole Foods Market Public Relations representative Allison Phelps told Michigan Live.
