Powerball jackpot rises to $348MILLION just three months after reaching $1.5billion

  • Jackpot was left untouched Saturday after numbers 3-12-16-32-34 called 
  • Has been steadily growing since someone won $292million in March
  • If there is no winner on Wednesday night it could jump to $400m  

The Powerball is inching closer and closer to some of the highest jackpots in history, just three months after it reached $1.5billion. 

There have been 17 drawings without a winner, leaving the pot at $348million.   

The jackpot was left untouched Saturday after winning numbers 3-12-16-32-34 and the Powerball, number 14, were called.

If there is no winner after Wednesday night's drawing, the jackpot could jump as high as $400m.

The last time the jackpot reached this high it eventually went on to grow to the history-making $1.5billion figure, according to CNN Money

Three winning tickets were sold in January in California, Tennessee and Florida. 

David Kaldschmidt and his wife Maureen Smith purchased their winning ticket in Melbourne, Florida and accepted a lump sum of $327.8million before taxes. 

John and Lisa Robinson of Munford, Tennessee also decided to take the lump sum payment. 

Powerball's jackpot has been slowly rising since March 2, after one lucky player won $292million.

The identity of the person who purchased the winning ticket at a Chino Hills, California 7-Eleven continues to remain a mystery. They have a year after the drawing date to claim their share. 

Excitement reached a fever pitch as the country watched the massive jackpot grow and grow. 

New York State averaged $1million an hour in sales when the jackpot was still a mere $675million. 

The lump sum option for the current jackpot stands at $226.1million. The winner could receive the full amount if they choose the annuity option, which pays the money over the course of 30 years. 

Powerball is held in 44 states, the District of Columbia, the US Virgin Island and Puerto Rico. 

The odds of matching all six numbers needed to win the jackpot are one in 292.2 million.
