Two bungling teenagers who ‘shoplifted motor oil’ broke down half a mile from the store after their getaway car ran out of gas

Two bungling teenagers had their alleged attempt to shoplift motor oil cut short after running out of gas in their getaway car.

Travis Holt, 18, and another boy, 15, have been accused of taking the goods from B-Z Mart in downtown Modesto, California. 

They managed to get half a mile from the store before they were caught after being forced to ditch the sedan they were driving.

The sedan the teenagers were driving ran out of gas half a mile away from where they allegedly stole the motor oil

Police recovered a gun from the car, allegedly used to threaten a store clerk who had tried to stop the supposed shoplifters from leaving

A store clerk at B-Z Mart identified them as the thieves, one of which was armed, according to the Modesto Bee.  

Eighteen-year-old Holt is said to have pulled a gun out on a store member of staff who had tried to stop him from leaving. 

Police charged Holt with robbery and possessing a loaded firearm, according to the local force in California. 

Officers also charged the 15-year-old with robbery and discovered a loaded revolver from the sedan.
