New-born baby suffers horror injuries after falling off a table before being airlifted to hospital

  • The baby is now in a stable condition at the Westmead Children's Hospital

A new-born baby has been airlifted to hospital after falling from a one-metre high table.

The 10-week-old boy sustained severe head injuries in the fall and was unresponsive before the NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived on the scene at Wamberal on the Central Coast.

The baby's mother called emergency services at about 11am on Wednesday.

Due to the extent of the horror head trauma, paramedics called for aeromedical assistance.

'CareFlight's Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance shortly before 11.00am and landed 15 minutes later at the Terrigal Rugby Club,' a statement by Careflight said.

'NSW Ambulance paramedics had already provided initial treatment for the patient and transported him and his mother to the club.

'CareFlight's specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic examined the infant and performed a clinical assessment before preparing for flight transfer.'

The baby and his mother were flown to the Westmead Children's Hospital in stable condition.

The infant remains under observation at the hospital.
