Hail to the Kamdidate! How the nation covered Joe Biden’s selection of senator Kamala Harris as his running mate to become the first black woman VP

'KAMRADES' is the galvanizing word plastered on the front page of this morning's New York Post, accompanied with a picture of Kamala Harris high-fiving Joe Biden, after Biden named Harris his running mate yesterday afternoon to fight to become the first black female Vice President. 

Biden made history yesterday by selecting the first woman of color to compete on a major party's presidential ticket and acknowledging the vital role black voters will play in his bid to defeat President Donald Trump.

Most other papers lead with the move, with the New York Times dedicating its front page to analyses and comments on the selection, while the New York Daily News leads with another Kam-based slogan 'YES WE KAM' and a picture of the 55-year-old waving to her supporters. 

The NYT says Harris's choice was a safe one, but likely to be 'energizing' in one piece, and calls her a 'political warrior' in another which sums up her political career. 

The Washington Post similarly dedicates its entire front page to the selection. It also calls the move a 'safe' one and in a separate piece, claims that Biden's choice was made at a time of 'racial reckoning' regarding the George Floyd protests.
