Glen Wysk, 40, is wanted by police for allegedly stealing a car then carjacking another

Texas police are searching for a man accused of stealing a car, crashing into several others then hijacking a vehicle and holding a screwdriver to the 11-year-old passenger's throat while her grandfather drove.

Glen Wysk, 40, was named by Hempstead police as the suspected carjacker and kidnapper.

He took off on foot after the terrified grandfather dropped him off where he wanted.

The incident began around 10pm on Tuesday in Cypress, 30 miles north west of Houston, KHou reported.

An officer with Hempstead police spotted Wysk driving erratically, almost hitting several road workers on Highway 290. 

The suspect also ignored the officer's traffic orders. 

The deputy chased the suspect's vehicle, which was later confirmed to be stolen.

During the chase, deputies said Wysk hit another vehicle and continued to drive away. 

Wysk then got out of the stolen car and jumped into another one, driven by a grandfather with his 11-year-old granddaughter as a passenger.

With the police having lost him, Wysk held a screwdriver at the girl's throat and ordered the grandfather to drive.

He got out the car near Hemwick Place in Cypress, then ran away.
