Clayton Oliver: Melbourne Demons reveal the REAL reason AFL star was hospitalised after he was admitted to Footscray Hospital
- Clayton Oliver reportedly hit his head during a medical episode
- Vile rumours surrounding the footy star's health emerged
- But the Melbourne Demons have clarified the situation
The real reason why Clayton Oliver was admitted to hospital has been revealed after vile rumours swirled on social media.
The Melbourne Demons star went to the emergency department of Footscray Hospital on Thursday, with the Herald Sun reporting that he hit his head during what the club described as a 'medical episode'.
He underwent a CT scan and an X-ray before being cleared of any head injuries and was discharged early on Thursday morning. Oliver is understood to have spent four hours at the hospital.
Melbourne confirmed on Thursday that the 26-year-old is now recovering at home.
The Demons also vowed to provide Oliver with any treatment and support he needs. Club doctor Laura Lallenec is working closely with the superstar's medical support team.

The Melbourne star was the subject of vile speculation after being admitted to hospital
Melbourne said in a statement that Oliver had been 'transferred to hospital via ambulance, following a medical episode.'
'The hospital completed a number of tests and Clayton has since been discharged from hospital and is recovering at home,' the statement said.
'The club will continue to work with Clayton and his medical support team to ensure he receives all the necessary treatment.
'We ask that (the) media respect Clayton's privacy at this time.'
Earlier on Thursday, vile online gossip surfaced, with shocking and unfounded rumours that he had died. Those rumours were put to bed following Melbourne's statement.
Oliver was also the subject of rumours about his health earlier this season when he missed three months of football after suffering a minor hamstring strain, followed by an infected blister that put him in hospital for four days.
There was even unfounded scuttlebutt that he had to be hospitalised due to an infection he suffered while giving himself a tattoo.
'The other suggested reasons for him not playing are ridiculous and disappointing and bloody hard for Clayton and his family and friends to deal with,' Melbourne football boss Alan Richardson said at the time.
More recently, several AFL clubs have asked about the possibility of acquiring him in a trade.
