Like father, like son! Davide Ancelotti, son of Real Madrid boss Carlo, 'is set to land his FIRST managerial job at FC Basel'... with the Swiss side making the up-and-coming coach their 'top target'
- Davide Ancelotti has spent the past decade working as assistant to his dad Carlo
- It now has been claimed that he will take his first managerial job in Europe
- FC Basel is reportedly interested as they seek to move on from their interim boss
Carlo Ancelotti's son Davide is reportedly close to landing his first managerial job.
The 33-year-old, who currently works for his dad as part of Real Madrid's coaching staff, is the 'leading candidate' to take over at FC Basel for next season, report Marca.
The Spanish newspaper claims that while he is under contract with Real Madrid for one more season, it has been decided he is going to go out on his own and take his first head coach role.
This would be the first time he has been in a top job, having previously worked as an assistant to his dad at Napoli, Everton, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
FC Basel are currently on the hunt for a new manager, with Heiko Vogel having been in interim charge since the dismissal of Alexander Frei in February.

Basel, who are in the quarter-finals of the Europa Conference League, are suffering a below-par season domestically, sitting fifth in the Swiss Super League, 20 points adrift of leaders Young Boys.
There was interest in Ancelotti Jnr at Everton following the sacking of Frank Lampard, only for the Toffees to turn to Sean Dyche.
Speaking about the possibility of his son eventually becoming a manager, dad Carlo said in January: 'Davide wants to be a coach. Someday he will be.
'He is very happy here and me with him. The day I stop training or when he doesn't decide he can leave.
'He has the ability to do it. At the moment we are very good here. Our work is not finished yet.'
If Ancelotti Jnr heads to Switzerland before the season is out he would have to hit the ground running with a crucial two-legged Conference League quarter-final against Nice on the horizon.
FC Basel have reportedly made the 33-year-old Italian a 'leading candidate' for their vacancy
