So much for a honeymoon period! Thomas Tuchel's Bayern Munich are dumped OUT of the German Cup as Lucas Holer's 95th-minute penalty seals dramatic 2-1 win for Freiburg
- Thomas Tuchel's new manager bounce has not extended to the German Cup
- A 95th-minute penalty for Freiburg's Lucas Holer has sent them through
- It is now back to the drawing board for Tuchel amid a fierce title race in Germany
The smile Thomas Tuchel has worn ever since being appointed as the new boss of Bayern Munich wore off for the first time on Tuesday as they were stunned in the German Cup by Freiburg.
Ahead through centre back Dayot Upamecano, all was going to plan until Freiburg - who had never previously beaten Bayern in Munich in 23 attempts - levelled just before the half-hour mark through Nicolas Hofler.
And Bayern laboured, and laboured, thereafter, failing to reconsolidate their advantage.
Then came the late twist in the tale as the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Penalty Freiburg. Dispatched with coolness by Lucas Holer.
Bayern out. Freiburg through. The Allianz Arena was stunned into silence.

It was pure jubilation for Freiburg, who beat Bayern in Munich for the first time in 24 attempts
'A very bitter defeat,' Bayern's Thomas Muller told reporters.
'It's not easy to analyse the game. In the end everyone will talk about the result.
'I thought we didn't play a bad game, we had chances but lacked precision and efficiency in the final third.'
He added: 'We know Freiburg is a team that fights and works together. We put pressure on them and pushed them back especially in the second half.
'As I said, we missed something in the final third. It's very disappointing.'
Bayern will rue not making their initial advantage count but it is the final seconds that will live longest in Tuchel's nightmares.
The penalty was awarded for a handball by Bayern substitute Jamal Musiala as he blocked Höler's attempt at goal.
The ball hit both of Musiala's arms, bouncing from one to the other, and there was little chance of him escaping punishment.
This competition has proven somewhat sticky for Bayern in recent years.
Here they were, bidding to win the competition for the first time in three years after embarrassing exits in the last two seasons.
Borussia Mönchengladbach routed them 5-0 in the second round last season and Holsten Kiel stunned - and eliminated - them at the same stage the season before that.
Make that one win and one defeat for Tuchel since he arrived to succeed the fired Julian Nagelsmann.
Upamecano opened the scoring with a bullet header from Joshua Kimmich's corner in the 20th minute, though Freiburg claimed the Bayern defender had fouled Maximilian Eggestein in reaching the ball.
TV replays showed Upamecano did have two hands on the Freiburg defender's shoulders as he rose to head the ball past Mark Flekken. Nonetheless, goal given.

Nicolas Höfler would then equalise seven minutes later with a sumptuous strike from distance inside the right post, set up by Kingsley Coman's poor attempted clearance for Bayern.
Bayern would go on to create more chances. Benjamin Pavard struck the crossbar with a header in the second half, before Tuchel brought on attacking players Musiala and Serge Gnabry with just over 25 minutes of normal time remaining to kill the tie off.
Instead they toiled away to no avail and it was Freiburg toasting their first win against Bayern in Munich at the 24th time of asking.
