Port Vale name Jim Gannon as manager to replace Micky Adams
Npower League Two promotion chasers Port Vale have appointed Jim Gannon as their new manager on a one-and-a-half year contract.
The 42-year-old, who led Stockport to promotion from the fourth tier of English football in 2007-08, succeeds Micky Adams in the Vale Park hotseat after the latter left to take over at Sheffield United last week.

Vale currently sit fourth in League Two and chairman Bill Bratt said: 'We are delighted that Jim has agreed to join Port Vale at what is undoubtedly a very exciting period for the club.
'We are an ambitious club and we believe Jim is the right appointment to deliver the success we are striving for.'
