Arsenal defender Vermaelen given nod to make Premier League return against Stoke

Thomas Vermaelen is ready to hand Arsene Wenger a massive boost by making his first appearance since August against Stoke on Sunday.
The central defender has not played for nearly nine months after suffering an achilles injury whilst playing for Belgium.

Vermaelen played 90 minutes of Arsenal's reserve clash against Manchester United last week and has been given the green light to make his first team return this weekend.
