The days of footballers tying up their shoelaces on the sidelines could be numbered.
Mesut Ozil posed with the new laceless adidas football boots in a photo posted on the Arsenal star's Instagram page.
He was joined in the manufacturing giant's promotion campaign by Real Madrid's James Rodriguez, Barcelona's Ivan Rakitic and Chelsea midfielder Oscar as they prepare to launch the new range in 2016.

The new accessory, the Adidas Ace 16+ GTI are the revolutionary first-ever laceless football boots to be produced.
Adidas say the boots take inspiration from 'football creators expressing themselves on different surfaces around the world'.
They are the latest in a series of ground-breaking innovations from adidas Football, which will land in 2016.

They are designed to offer pure control with the new laceless design and come with a Primeknit upper and the iconic three stripes that resemble the adidas emblem.
An external heel counter is added for improved stability and protection, while the boots will feature the same redesigned soleplate as the regular Adidas Ace 16.1 boots.
HISTORY OF THE FOOTBALL BOOT
1526 - King Henry VIII's football boots are the earliest recorded at a cost of four shillings, they were strong leather, ankle high and heavier than the normal shoe of the day.
1800-1900: Boots developed with steel toecaps to protect the player. Early boots also had long laces and ankle supports, with large metal studs attached to the sole. They were made out of heavy leather and weighed around 500g.
1954: Adolf Dassler, along with brother Rudolf, developed the first boot with removable studs.
1960s: Style of boot changed from an ankle support to a lower cut if boot that is seen today.
1970s: First coloured boots introduced and adidas establishes itself as market leader, developing the Copa Mundial.
1994: The Adidas Predator boot is released and remains the most famous boot to the present.
1998: Nike creates the lightest boot, the Mercurial weighing at only 200g.
2002: Nomis create the first boot with Wet Control Technology.
P.S... what about this laceless number from Lotto? Released fully nine years before adidas' effort, the no-laces-look has been around for longer than many of you will realise.
