Liverpool to quiz fans on travel habits in bid to solve Anfield early-leavers problem upsetting Jurgen Klopp

- Too many fans travel to Anfield by car, causing congestion on roads
- Increased capacity when new Main Stand opens will mean more problems
Liverpool have commissioned a fans' survey to address the transport problems facing those who travel to Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp bemoaned the fact so many fans left their seats before full-time during the home defeat by Crystal Palace earlier this month, a not uncommon sight at the famous old ground or elsewhere in the Barclays Premier League.
The reason so many fans leave early is usually not to display dissatisfaction with their team's performance but to escape the grinding congestion around grounds after games and get a head-start on a potentially long journey home.

Liverpool have identified that this is a problem that afflicts their club in particular. Anfield currently hosts 45,000 supporters, but that will increase to 53,800 when the new Main Stand opens next year.
Mott MacDonald, a management, engineering and development consultancy, have been called in for the second time in two years to quiz fans on their travelling habits.
The survey will take place during the Europa League clash against Bordeaux and Sunday's visit of Swansea City in the Premier League.
The club have already identified that the numbers of fans travelling to games by car is the biggest problem.
The number of vehicles that descend on the area around the stadium on matchdays - at least 11,000 - hugely outweighs the number of parking spaces available - 2,201. Liverpool are determined to reduce this disparity by offering fans alternatives to using their cars for travel.
Anfield's capacity will increase to 53,800 once the building of the new Main Stand is completed
'We will aim to reduce the number of cars used by people travelling to and from the stadium which will help minimise the impact of matchday traffic on Anfield’s residents,' a club spokesman told the Telegraph.
'We will also actively encourage the use of public transport by supporters, through providing designated drop-off and pick-up points close to the stadium for matchday buses and taxis.'
