Following Manchester United's embarrassing Champions League exit, social media was awash with funny virals and memes.

Despite splashing more than £250million in the summer, Louis van Gaal's side were dumped out by German outfit Wolfsburg and will now drop into the Europa League.

United made the perfect start when Anthony Martial gave them the lead after 10 minutes, only for Naldo to equalise shortly after.

The hosts got themselves in front when Vieirinha struck just before the half-hour mark, but United appeared to be heading for the last 16 when Josuha Guilavogui scored an own goal with just eight minutes remaining.

Van Gaal's men couldn't hold on though, with Naldo's winner and PSV's comeback victory against CSKA Moscow sending the Red Devils into third place in Group B.
