Edin Dzeko blames himself for lean season in front of goal for Roma but striker vows to turn it around against BATE Borisov

Edin Dzeko is confident his goal-scoring form for Roma will improve and says his lean season to date is no-one's fault but his own ahead of their Champions League clash with BATE Borisov.

The on-loan City striker has eight goals in his 21 appearances for club and country this season, five of them for Roma and only three in the Serie A.

If there's a time to turn around his form, and that of Roma who are winless in their last four in all competitions, it is Wednesday night when a win is needed to see them progress beyond group E.

'If I haven't scored a lot of goals it's no one else's fault but mine, I could have done better,' Dzeko said.

'But I feel positive for the future, the goals will come. Tomorrow we have an important match and we're determined to reach our objective of qualifying for the last 16.'

Dzeko may be being a little hard on himself given he's found the net five times in his last eight games, one of those being the 85th-minute equaliser for Bosnia and Herzegovina in their 1-1 draw with Ireland in Euro 2016 qualifying.

The last time her scored it was too little too late - a 90th-minute strike after Barcelona had already run rampant with a six-goal spree.
