- Bundesliga club chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is confident he will stay
Former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso will not leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season, according to club chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
The Spain international's current contract expires next summer and, with no talks opened over an extension, speculation has mounted that Alonso will leave the Bundesliga champions.
However, Germany legend Rummenigge is confident that the 34-year-old will still be at the Allianz Arena next season - in contrast to manager Pep Guardiola who is expected to leave for a new challenge.

'Recently, I had a talk with Xabi. He feels very good at Bayern Munich and in the city of Munich too,' Rummenigge told Sport Bild.
'He signalled to me he is interested in staying in Munich. Rumours he would plan to leave are wrong.'
Alonso is adamant that he has not made a decision about his future, but said he would have no qualms about staying at Bayern.
'I have not made a decision yet, neither for Bayern nor against,' the midfielder added. 'Even concerning the end of my career I have not set a limit.
The 34-year-old midfielder has started in 12 of his 13 Bundesliga appearances this season
Alonso has been linked with a reunion with Rafa Benitez at his former club Real Madrid
'I am pleased about the positive signals. I am happy to be at the club.
'I can feel the respect, this is important. Now we will see what happens,' he added.
Alonso would be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club in January and has been linked with a return to former side Real Madrid - where he would be reunited with ex-Anfield boss Rafa Benitez.
Alonso has started in 12 of his 13 Bundesliga appearances this season.
