Jurgen Klopp has vowed to bolster his ranks at Liverpool this summer and highlighted his midfield options as an area where more depth is required.
The Reds boss pointed to Adam Lallana's injury-plagued season as a reason for summer additions, as well as the January departure of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona.
Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri is nearing his move to Chelsea and is increasingly hopeful they will activate his £7million release clause imminently.
Sarri became the front-runner for the Stamford Bridge job after former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique's wage demands priced him out of the equation.
ADAM CRAFTON: Barcelona are growing increasingly confident that central defender Samuel Umtiti will resist interest from Manchester United and sign a new contract with the club.
France international Umtiti, 24, is under contract at Barcelona until 2021 but his deal contains a £53m release clause.

Borussia Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic says he is ignoring repeated speculation of a summer transfer move to Liverpool.
The 19-year-old winger worked under Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp when he was Dortmund manager.

The England Under 21 international spent the first half of last season on loan at Huddersfield before joining Derby, where he scored twice helping the Rams to the play-offs.
SIMON JONES: Michael Dawson is in talks over a return to Nottingham Forest.
The 34-year old is a free agent after his contract finished at Hull City and Aitor Karanka believes his experience can help guide Forest in their bid for promotion next season.
Dawson made over 80 appearances for Forest as a youngster before moving to Tottenham in 2005 with Andy Reid.
Forest tried to sign Dawson in January but hope to be successful at wrapping up a deal next week.

SIMON JONES: Brighton are closing on a deal for Paris Saint-Germain teenage defender Moussa Sissako.
The 17-year-old French centre back has rejected the offer of a professional contract from PSG and agreed a four-year contract.
Wolves had also shown interest in highly rated Sissako who played in the UEFA Youth League last season, but Chris Hughton's side appear to have won the race.
Antoine Griezmann has informed Atletico Madrid he wants to stay but has warned that being booed by supporters could change his mind, according to reports.

SIMON JONES: Arsenal have snapped up Estonia youth international goalkeeper Karl Jakob Hein amid interest from rival Premier League clubs.
The 16-year-old had undergone a number of trials around clubs in the UK including Manchester United, Brighton and Southampton who were all interested in taking him on.
However, the Uner 17 international has agreed a one year contract with an option for three further years.
Hein, who played for Nomme United in Tallinn, was advised by mentor Mart Poom the former Derby County and Arsenal goalkeeper who is Estonia's goalkeeping coach.
SIMON JONES: Brighton, Stoke City and Norwich City are all showing an interest in Wolves' young centre-back Cameron John.
The 18-year-old is in the last year of his contract at Molineux and the Premier League new boys are willing to listen to offers.
John can play centre-back or left-back and has impressed for Scott Sellars's U23s over the past season.
However, Wolves have plenty of competition for the first team defensive berths and are looking to add more.
The club have moved to sign Willy Boly for £10million from Porto following his successful loan spell and will look to bring in a few more ahead of the new season.
