On top of the world! Lionel Messi thanks climber as Argentina star's shirt reaches Mount Everest summit

Fans often go out of their way to show their favourite footballers how much they mean to them - not many will be able to match climber Dan Zengluobu, though.
The Lionel Messi super-fan posted a photo from the top of Mount Everest (8,848m) as he held an Argentina shirt with the star's name on the back.
His extraordinary exploits did not go unnoticed by the Barcelona supremo as Messi shared Zengluobu's achievement to his 89.5million Facebook followers, thanking and congratulating him.

The Argentine star thanked the climber for showing his admiration for him at such heights
'Congratulations to Dan Zengluobu for reaching the summit of Everest, an incredible achievement! And many thanks for showing me your affection from up there,' Messi wrote alongside the image.
Messi has been busy training with his Argentina team-mates in Buenos Aires as they prepare to face Haiti in a friendly on May 29.
After facing the Caribbean islanders, Messi will return to familiar territory as Argentina got to Barcelona for a training camp to prepare for the upcoming World Cup in Russia.

The tournament holds great significance for the 30-year-old as he looks to exact revenge having been part of the side that lost the final to Germany in Brazil four years ago.

And given he will be 34 by the time Qatar 2022 comes around, Messi knows Russia could prove to be his best opportunity to win the biggest honour in international football.
