None more so than Bayern Munich goalkeeper Neuer, who was included in the preliminary 27-man squad, even though he has not featured since September with a long-term foot injury.
The 32-year-old, arguably the best keeper in world football, will be desperate to prove his fitness levels as he looks to help Germany retain the World Cup.
Neuer will soon find out his fate with Low having to finalise his squad by June 4 at the very latest.
Germany's World Cup campaign gets underway against Mexico, before they take on Sweden and South Korea in their other group games.
