NBA star Bub Carrington leaves game in wheelchair after scary head injury

Washington Wizards star Bub Carrington left the court on Monday night in a wheelchair after his head crashed flush to the court after awkwardly making contact with a New York Knicks player.

The scary incident occurred in the third quarter, while Carrington was defending OG Anunoby in the third quarter.

Carrington tried to strip the ball away from OG Anunoby, missed, and then fell over and collided with teammate Jonas Valanciunas on the way to the court.

The collision with Valanciunas redirected his fall from his back and butt to taking the brunt of the impact on the back of his head.

Carrington stayed on the court for a few minutes holding his head in obvious pain. Eventually, the Washington's first-round draft pick from this year was helped into a wheelchair.

Before being rolled off the court, two towels were placed over Carrington's head, a sign that the Wizards rookie had a headache, with the towels giving him a temporary reprieve by blocking some of the lights inside Capital One Arena.

Carrington was eventually ruled out of the rest of the game with a 'post-traumatic headache', while Wizards head coach Brian Keefe said after the game the rookie was never knocked out on the floor.

Carrington also appeared in Washington's postgame availability in the locker room talking with teammates and showing no obvious signs of discomfort.

The Knicks did defeat the Wizards 126-106, pulling away in the fourth quarter while Carrington was out of action.

The rookie missing no time would be welcomed news for Washington, which has the worst record in the Eastern Conference at 5-25.

Carrington is one of only two Wizards not to miss a game this season, a fact which could be in jeopardy when Washington plays next on Wednesday against the Bulls.
