FIFA seek lifetime ban for Jeffrey Webb over former vice president's corruption violations
- Following his arrest in Switzerland, ex-FIFA vice president Jeffrey Webb was reportedly extradited to the US over corruption charges last year
- FIFA's Ethics Committee then opened proceedings against the 51-year-old
- The Committee has been recommended to issue Webb a lifetime ban
Former FIFA vice president Jeffrey Webb is facing the prospect of a lifetime ban from football after the governing body's Ethics Committee opened proceedings against him.
The ex-CONCACAF president pleaded guilty to one count of racketeering conspiracy, three counts of wire fraud conspiracy and three counts of money laundering conspiracy in November.
He was reportedly extradited to the United States following his arrest in Switzerland in May 2015.

The adjudicatory chamber of the Ethics Committee is chaired by Hans-Joachim Eckert and has been recommended to issue a lifelong ban.
A FIFA statement read: 'The adjudicatory chamber has carefully studied the report of the investigatory chamber, under the chairmanship of Dr Cornel Borbely, and decided to institute formal adjudicatory proceedings against Mr Webb, formerly the President of CONCACAF, a Vice-President of FIFA, a member of the Executive Committee of the Caribbean Football Union and the President of the Cayman Islands Football Association.
'The final report was transmitted to the adjudicatory chamber on 26 April 2016, with a recommended sanction of a lifelong ban from all football-related activities for violations of articles 13, 15, 18, 19 and 21 of the FIFA Code of Ethics.'
