Police redirect search for missing Brisbane hiker
Queensland police have redirected their search for missing bushwalker Lesley Trotter to a suburban area near her home in Brisbane's southwest.
The 78-year-old last spoke to her family on March 27 and wasn't at her Toowong home when they visited the following day.
She left her mobile phone and wallet behind and there are serious concerns for her welfare as the disappearance is out of character.
Police initially focused their search at Brisbane's Mt Coot-tha because Ms Trotter is an avid hiker and bushwalker.
But acting Inspector Michael Butler confirmed the search had been redirected to the Toowong area.
"This is a highly urbanised environment requiring significant personnel, logistics and operational planning to search effectively," he said on Tuesday in a statement.
"Police are appealing for members of the public to check their yards, open garages or sheds for any signs of Lesley - this would help us greatly."
Ms Trotter is described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 162cm tall with an athletic build, short blonde hair and blue eyes.
Anyone with information should immediately contact police.
