Man accused of Aussie's murder faces court

The 25-year-old man arrested over the brutal stabbing murder of an Australian in Gothenburg is due to appear in court, Swedish media reports.

The 30-year-old victim, Kai Foley, was found in Odinsplatsen, a public space in the middle of the city, in the early hours of December 20.

He suffered severe abdominal and spinal injuries and died in hospital.

A man was detained on Friday and Sweden's TT News Agency reports he is due to face court on Monday.

Local prosecutors said last week he was not known to Mr Foley, who moved to Gothenburg in the last European summer and had a Swedish girlfriend.
