Brisbane rape sentence to be appealed
Queensland's attorney-general has filed an appeal against the sentence imposed on a man for the rape of a woman two years ago.
James Ronald Lennox, 58, was last month sentenced to four-and-a-half years' jail - suspended after 14 months - at the Brisbane District Court for the rape of a 27-year-old woman in Carindale in January 2016.
On the advice of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Attorney-General Yvette D'Ath has confirmed she lodged an appeal of Lennox's sentence on the grounds it is manifestly inadequate.
