Anti-Adani protesters to target Ciobo
Anti-Adani protesters are set to ramp up their campaign against federal Tourism Minister Steve Ciobo.
They will rally outside Mr Ciobo's Gold Coast electorate office on Thursday morning calling on him to not to allow Adani to use Australia's export credit agency to fund its Carmichael coalmine.
Mr Ciobo is reportedly exploring the possibility of using the Export Finance and Insurance Corporation to help the Indian mining giant.
Stop Adani Gold Coast spokesperson Luna Derkley says that prospect is contradictory to his role as the nation's tourism minister.
"As tourism minister, Mr Ciobo can't logically boast about allocating millions to 'save the reef' while secretly using public money to prop up Adani's coalmine, which will surely kill it," Ms Derkley said.
"The Great Barrier Reef is a national icon that supports 64,000 jobs and has been valued at a whopping $56 billion to our economy."
