Pig that attacked, injured 2 people on farm to be euthanized
TOWNSEND, Mass. (AP) — Authorities say a pig that attacked two people on a Massachusetts farm will be euthanized and tested for rabies.
Townsend Police Chief Robert M. Eaton Jr. announced the decision Wednesday.
Police responded to a call Tuesday evening about an injured woman at the farm about 50 miles northwest of Boston. Officers found a 38-year-old woman with lacerations from an apparent pig attack. She was taken to a hospital for further treatment.
Less than two hours later, rescuers were called to the same location in response to a report of a man who had received more serious injuries from the same animal. Police say the 50-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries but is in stable condition.
The animal, an adult boar, or male pig, was quarantined.
It's unclear why the pig attacked.
