VNG to cooperate with EnBW on LNG purchases - CEO

FRANKFURT, April 4 (Reuters) - Eastern German gas company VNG, which lost its Russian pipeline gas supplies in last year's energy crisis, will work with parent company EnBW to achieve wider reach in liquefied natural gas (LNG) procurement, its chief executive said on Tuesday.

"While each company has its own interests to preserve, in international LNG markets you have to have a critical size to optimise your business," CEO Ulf Heitmueller said in an earnings call with reporters. "It makes sense to team up with EnBW." His company would pursue a mix of geographies and delivery durations, also maintaining long-term pipeline gas contracts where possible, he said.
