Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (ankle) will play vs. Broncos
Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce will play Thursday night against the Denver Broncos, four days after sustaining a right ankle injury.
Kelce was listed as questionable after Wednesday's practice. He suffered the injury, reported to be a low ankle sprain, during the second quarter of Sunday's 27-20 win over the Minnesota Vikings.
Kelce missed a Chiefs touchdown drive to open the third quarter but returned for the next drive and caught five passes, including a touchdown reception. He finished the game with 10 receptions for 67 yards.
The Chiefs (4-1) listed Kelce as a non-participant on Monday's estimated practice report. He was limited in his return to practice Tuesday.
Kelce missed the season-opening loss to the Detroit Lions after hyperextending his knee in practice. The four-time first-team All-Pro has 27 catches for 222 yards and three touchdowns in four games this season.
Kansas City defensive end George Karlaftis (hamstring) and punter Tommy Townsend (left knee) were listed as questionable but both are active. Defensive tackles Neil Farrell and Keondre Corburn, offensive lineman Mike Caliendo, defensive end BJ Thompson and cornerback Nic Jones are inactive.
For the Broncos (1-4), tight end Nate Adkins, center Alex Forsyth, defensive tackle D.J. Jones, defensive lineman Elijah Garcia, safety JL Skinner and outside linebackers Frank Clark and Thomas Incoom are inactive.
