EPHRAIM HARDCASTLE: Duchess of Sussex should empathise with Duke of Rutland's son over clothing brand row
The Duchess of Sussex should empathise with the Duke of Rutland's son, Lord Hugo Manners, who's been attacked by the forces of wokery for 'country pillaging' over Joah, his Indian clothing brand.
Meghan suffered similar flak in 2018 for the Indian motifs on her wedding dress.
My colleague Robert Hardman revealed in his book Queen Of Our Times that US and Indian academics called the dress 'patronising', 'tone-deaf' and 'colonial amnesia at its worst'.
Maybe she and Hugo should have stuck to tweed.

Bestowing an honorary degree on sister-in-law Queen Camilla, did Princess Anne, Chancellor of the University of London, recall her youth when both sought the affection of Andrew Parker Bowles?
Camilla married and later divorced him while Anne was smitten by the Catholic Guards officer.
All romantic ambition was dashed under ancient statutes that prevented the Royal Family from marrying Catholics while retaining their succession rights.
The 2013 Succession to the Crown Act removed this disqualification. Too late for Anne and Andy.

Beer aficionado President Xi Jinping didn't give the impression he wanted to sup with Keir Starmer in Brazil.
He was famously wooed over beer by David Cameron in 2015.
Prince Philip ensured that Xi's suite at Buckingham Palace was furnished with bottles of HRH's favourite Double Diamond, and he even slipped a few bottles into Xi's luggage for the flight home.
Shouldn't Starmer have brought a gift crate of ale to Rio?

Explaining her dyslexia, Cher, says: 'I don't know my address and I don't know my phone number.
'But I don't care, if people want to find me they will. I say it is the house with all the palm trees.
'And if I want to know what my phone number is I click to Lucille Ball.'
The delightfully daft Cher saves her number under the name of the Hollywood star, safe in the knowledge that Ms Ball won't answer, having died in 1989.

After John Prescott delivered a left jab to an egg thrower in Rhyl he got a call from PM Tony Blair. 'I began at my most mellifluous,' recalled Blair.
'Sorry about what happened, dreadful of him to do that... After about five minutes of this guff, John interrupted me. 'I know you,' he said.
'I know what you're up to. You want me to apologise. Aye – well, I'm bloody well not. So you can forget it'.'

Discoverer of The Who, producer Shel Talmy, who has died at 87, was represented by Lord Hailsham in the High Court in 1966 after the band fired him.
'The judge was confused by the musical combo's name, so Hailsham explained: 'My client is suing The Who, as in World Health Organisation, M'lord.'
