Manchester United have reportedly agreed a deal that will see Sporting Lisbon starlet Geovany Quenda join the club this summer.

Ruben Amorim has been intent on putting his stamp on the side ever since being handed the reins following Erik ten Hag's sacking in October.

The Portuguese has been forced to deal with various growing pains as he attempts to acclimatise the players he inherited to his preferred 3-4-3 system.

However, it appears that one piece of the puzzle may be on the way to Old Trafford in the coming months.

According to Portuguese outlet A Bola, United have agreed a deal worth in the region of €60million (£50.2m) to sign Quenda from Amorim's former club.

The report claims that United were tracking the 17-year-old even before Amorim was named the club's head coach, and that United had at one stage hoped Quenda's arrival could be completed this month.

Instead, Quenda is reportedly set to join the Premier League side this summer, with various clauses said to be included in the deal.

After spending time in rivals' Benfica's youth academy, Quenda joined Sporting in 2019 at the age of 13.

As Leoes boss Amorim immediately earmarked Quenda for his potential, and he became the youngest player ever to represent Sporting's reserve team at the age of 16.

At the start of the current campaign Quenda was integrated into Sporting's first-team, with Amorim raving about his performance at right wing-back after impressing in a pre-season friendly.

'He's very talented, very mature and understands the game like an adult,' Amorim told Sporting TV in July.

'He obviously has a lot to improve on, but I think he had an excellent game and we have a player there.'

Quenda has featured in all of Sporting's league fixtures this season, and has contributed two goals and six assists in all competitions.

Born in Guinea-Bissau, Quenda chose to represent Portugal internationally and has featured at both U17 and U21 age groups internationally.

In August Portugal boss Roberto Martinez handed Quenda his first senior call-up for Nations League clashes with Croatia and Scotland, though he did not feature in either game.

United currently sit 12th in the table following a mixed start to Amorim's reign at the club.

Despite middling performances in the league, the club have gone unbeaten in Europe, and qualified for the Europa League round of 16 on Thursday with a 2-0 win over FCSB.

The club return to Premier League action on Sunday when they play host to Crystal Palace.
