Ballet flats are back in style and fashionistas claim they've found the 'perfect' £35 pair from Marks & Spencer

Whether you like them or not, ballet flats are officially back on the fashion scene.

Having had their come up in the early noughties, ballet flats were a staple wardrobe item for most across the UK.

But after some ten years off the scene, this year has marked the revival of the simple yet chic shoe.

Taking to TikTok, London-based Agata Poplawska, has claimed to find the 'perfect' pair at a reasonable price from British retailer Marks & Spencer.

The video has since received over 190,000 views, leaving social media users 'obsessed' with the £35 shoes.

Agata said: 'After two hours of shopping, I have found the perfect flats.'

The content creator then displayed the wide variety of ballet pumps on sale at her local branch of the retailer. The vegan shoes, which retail for £35, are available in red, silver, and black.

Agata showcased the minimalist pumps in the different colours, starting with a metallic snake-effect silver pair.

She later tried on the buckled ballet pumps in a timeless shade of red and a different pair in black.

The easy-to-wear wardrobe staple feature a single buckled strap with a stylish square toe. She concluded: 'Run to M&S, they SERVED again.'

Social media users have flocked to the comment section to share their thoughts on the must-have item of the season, and one viewer was 'obsessed'.

One user wrote: 'God I’m obsessed, obvs they’re sold on in my size online.. to the shops I go!'  A second added: 'M&S has been serving so hard recently.'

It comes after New York Fashion week showcased a number of ballet shoes, Tibi did luxe leather styles, while Milan saw Fendi do flats with gold bracelets around the ankle. 

Kate Moss was seen wearing a sleek black pair with a trench coat. Fellow fan Alexa Chung recently teamed hers with a striped shirt and blue denim.

If you can already feel the shin splints coming on, the chances are you were around when ballet flats were last in the spotlight.

An essential part of the Noughties It Girl uniform, Sienna Miller et al catapulted Lanvin's ballerina flats to cult status, wearing them with skinny jeans and coin belts.

But you don't need to spend a fortune to buy into the look, as the High Street has plenty of covetable styles. 

Marks & Spencer's leather bow ballet pumps ring in at under £40 and come with a cushioned lining. The two-tone blush colourway is reminiscent of Chanel's toe-cap style.

Seeking a smart shoe for the office? Take a style note from the Princess of Wales and try a pointed‑toe pump with tailored trousers.

Kate favours Boden's suede Pointed Ballet Flats, which are on sale for under £100. Look at Jigsaw and Cos, too.

For top fashion points, reach for ballet flats with a Mary Jane strap. The style set is wearing Miu Miu's satin pumps, but you can head to & Other Stories and Mango for some budget-friendly alternatives.
