Chelsea Clinton discusses the children she wants 'someday' with new husband

Newlywed Chelsea Clinton has put rumours to rest there is trouble in her marriage - the former First Daughter is thinking about having children.

Chelsea, 31, married investment banker Marc Mezvinsky last July, but the joyous occasion was marred soon after by reports of marital problems.

Although she isn't ready to become a mother just yet, she says she is thinking about having children 'some day'.

Working it out: A friend said Ms Clinton was thrilled with the results of Ms Ayesa's routines, which have given her husband 'an inner peace and focus.'

Chelsea and her husband were in attendance at a New York benefit for Friendfactor, a social networking site focused on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights, on Tuesday.

When the topic of having a family came up at the pro-gay marriage event, Chelsea expressed her desire to expand her own.

She told People.com: 'As a New Yorker who not that long ago got married in New York to her best friend… I certainly believe that all of my friends should have the right, as Marc and I did, to marry their best friend.

'I certainly expect my straight friends to help us achieve that for all New Yorkers, for all Americans, and for the children that, at least, Marc and I hope to have some day.'

Chelsea, the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, faced rumours about trouble in her marriage last year, after reports suggested Mr Mezvinsky went on vacation without his wife.

A family friend called the allegations 'absolutely false'.

In March, Chelsea's mother said she would love if the couple had children - despite her concerns about being an overbearing grandmother.

She said of the suggestion: 'Well, no pressure, because I don't want to be one of those kinds of mothers. But obviously, some day, I'd love it.'

When asked what kind of grandmother she thought she'd be, she added: 'Probably an unbearable one - the kind who is saying, "Oh, my gosh, I'll take the child, I'll do whatever you need to get done".'
