So embarrassing, Melbourne: Stuffy racing officials 'vetoed' photos of Hilary Swank with the Melbourne Cup because she wore a David Jones ensemble - instead of an outfit from sponsor Myer
- Hollywood Star Hilary Swank was flown in for Derby Day on Saturday
- Photos of the actress holding the Melbourne Cup were reportedly vetoed
- Swank was dressed in a black backless Christopher Esber pantsuit
- The label is stocked in Myer's rival department store David Jones
- Myer is the official fashion partner of the Spring Racing Carnival
- Derby Day was attended by top members of Australia's fashion elite
She was one of the biggest stars in attendance at the Derby Day races.
So eyebrows were raised when no photos appeared of Hollywood actress Hilary Swank with the iconic Melbourne Cup - even though she was flown in especially for the occasion.
The reported reason? Swank was wearing a stunning black Christopher Esber backless pantsuit on the day, a label stocked in David Jones, rather than the Spring Racing Carnival's official fashion partner Myer.

Partners over celebrities: Photos of Hollywood Star Hilary Swank holding the Melbourne Cup were reportedly vetoed by the Victorian Racing Club after she attended Derby Day on Saturday
Lies in the label: Swank appeared in a glittering Christopher Esber backless pantsuit - a label that is stocked in David Jones, not Myer
According to a report in the Daily Telegraph, the Victorian Racing Club 'vetoed' photos of Hilary Swank holding the Cup due to her outfit choice.
The star appeared in the Swisse marquee after being flown in especially by the company as part of her ambassador role for the wellness brand.
Curiously, while no pictures have been circulated of the multiple Oscar winner holding the Cup, former star of UK reality show Made In Chelsea Millie Mackintosh was pictured doing the same.
The 41-year-old Oscar winner appeared at Flemington Race Course in the glittering number on Saturday, which she had paired with a stunning Nerida Winter wide-brim hat and simple black Christian Louboutin heels.

Controversy: Myer is the Spring Racing Carnival's official fashion partner (Swank pictured at the Birdcage on her way to the Swisse marquee as part of her role as Swisse ambassador)
An umbrella-wielding Swank braved the rain for the occasion, as she stepped out in her tailored ensemble which featured eye-catching glittering detailing and netting.
A spokesperson for Swisse told Daily Mail Australia: 'As sponsor of the Melbourne Cup Carnival and VRC we appreciate and understand the position it holds.' Daily Mail Australia has contacted Myer for comment.
Swank was joined by members of Australia's fashion elite, with notable fashion names stepping out in a sea of fun fascinators and striking millinery.
The stars were dressed in the traditional black and white to kick off the Melbourne Cup carnival, with former Miss Universe Jennifer Hawkins leading the style stakes in a slinky Alex Perry dress with dramatic slit sleeves.

The frock featuring caped sleeves revealed a glimpse of the 31-year-old's toned arms, while her trim pins were also on display thanks to a knee-length hem.
Meanwhile fellow department store ambassador, Rachael Finch, also opted for head-to-toe white on the glamorous race day and stepped out in a stunning white Toni Maticevski dress as she arrived at the same tent.
The fit and flare frock featuring an intricate zip down the back, was teamed with a pair of matching Tony Bianco heels and a Viktoria Novak head piece.

Other stand-outs in attendance were model and television presenter Lauren Phillips, Lindy Klim, Melissa Rivers, Kate Peck and model Jessica Gomes, who appeared in a white Ellery number in the Lexus marquee.
White was the colour of choice for the day, with many choosing to opt for either white or black rather than a combination.
The event was one of the biggest Spring Racing events of the season, with the Melbourne Cup kicking off in Melbourne on Tuesday.
