Disney and McDonald's are ditching their 10-year Happy Meals tie-up, it has emerged.
The film studio no longer wants to be associated with fast food and the links between it and obesity among children, according to reports.
The deal, which saw character figurines from movies such as The Incredibles and Finding Nemo packed in a special box with a burger, fries and drink, will end after this year.
The alliance is said to have been worth £54million a year to Disney. The Los Angeles Times said "multiple high-ranking sources" within Disney said executives felt the association with unhealthy food was harming the firm's family image.
But McDonald's said the story was based on "Hollywood hearsay", insisting the decision was mutual. It has agreed a two-year deal with Dream-Works, makers of the Shrek films.
The last Disney films to be made into Happy Meals will be this summer's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and the animation Cars.
