Police hunt for suspect who dragged jogger by the hair, raped and robbed her in a Manhattan park

Police in New York City are searching for a man suspected to raping and robbing a jogger in a park on Manhattan's Lower East side Wednesday evening.

The 26-year-old victim told investigators she was out for a run in East River Park near Jackson Avenue at around 7.30pm when a man with dreadlocks accosted and dragged her by the hair into a nearby amphitheater.

Once there, the assailant allegedly sexually assaulted the woman, stole her cell phone and credit cards, and then took off on a bicycle

Sex assault: A 26-year-old woman was accosted by a man, dragged by her hair to a secluded location, raped and robbed of her cellphone and credit cars on Manhattan's Lower East Side 

The attack happened near Jackson Avenue, in close proximity to the Williamsburg Bridge

Following the attack, the victim went for help, borrowing a passerby’s cellphone to call 911, according to NBC New York. 

The woman was taken to Beth Israel Hospital in stable condition suffering from bruises and scrapes, reported ABC 7 Eyewitness News.

Police described the suspect in the rape and robbery as a man with dreadlocks weighing about 220lbs.

As of Thursday afternoon, no arrests have been made.
