A grandmother who is bringing up triplets in North Dakota was given a surprise $300 tip by visitors to the bar where she works with a scribbled note saying 'take care of those boys!'
The visitors were in the First and Last Bar in Lisbon, North Dakota where Sheila Weisgerber works behind the bar. The visitors were in town for a funeral and Weisgerber told them how she had looked after her three grandsons since they were two months old.
Weisgerber's daughter Stephanie already had a toddler when she gave birth to the three boys and was unable to cope with the massively increased brood.
Shelia Weisgerber, pictured with her three grandchildren Bentley, Ashton and Dalton told a strange couple how she was looking after the boys while at work in the First and Last Chance bar in Lisbon, North Dakota
Weisgerber said she decided to raise the young boys because her daughter Stephaine could not cope
Two guests at the bar left a $300 tip for Weisgerber after hearing her story about her three grandsons
The boy's father Joshua Ertelt died in a car crash in February.
So, Weisgerber decided to rear the children Bentley, Ashton and Dalton, who are now four.
Weisgerber said she often talks about her grandchildren while at work but never expected anything like the couple's generosity.
She said she did not realise the size of her tip until she looked down on the note with the message of support attached.
Weisengerber told ABC News: 'I was in disbelief at first. I looked at it, and I looked at it again. You read stuff about it, and you hear about it, and you wonder, "Is that really true? Do people really do that?"'
Weisengerber said she had to stand in for her daughter so the family would not be split up.'At first it was very overwhelming. And, at first I thought I bit off more than I could chew. She tried to do it, and when the boys were two months, she said she couldn't do it, so I stepped in and offered to raise the boys. They’re good little guys.'
Weisgerber said she broke down in tears when she looked down and saw the generous gesture
After receiving the tip, Wisengerber said he went into the toilet and cried because of the generosity shown to her by some complete strangers.
The 48-year-old grandmother has three adult daughters.
She told Inforum.com: 'I love children and it wasn't in my cards to have more," she said. "And now I've been blessed to raise the boys. If I was asked to do it over again, I would. These little guys are a true blessing.'
Bar owner Dave Cole Jnr said: 'It's fantastic. Anytime we can do some good in the world in general. The last few months have been really hard with random deaths around here. We really needed a boost. This was a godsend. Literally, it made everybody brighten up. ... You know that there still is good left.'
