One new resident of a South Carolina community was making the rounds and ringing doorbells to meet his new neighbors - the only problem was, he was an alligator.
Gary Rogers says that he was out walking his dog in his neighborhood of Foxbank Plantation Monday morning when he saw the alligator crawling across the front yards of homes.
He decided to record video of the unusual visitor on his phone as the large reptile headed to a front porch.
'He was walking around in front of a couple of houses down in the cul-de-sac area. So we went down,' Rogers told WCIV.

Surprise visitor: An alligator was caught on camera roaming around Foxbank Plantation, South Carolina. Gary Rogers filmed the large reptile attempting to ring the doorbell at one of the homes

Rogers' video shows the gator climbing up to homeowner Jamie Bailey's front door and attempting to ring the doorbell.
'...then when it went over to the house it kind of was up around the doorbell,' Rogers told WCIV.
'I didn't know alligators could actually climb. And this alligator looked like he was really trying to make an attempt to get over the fence and into this woman's pool in the backyard.'
Bailey, who was at work at the time of the unplanned visit, explained that she's unsure if the gator was successful in actually ringing her bell, but it left behind plenty of scratches on the door.
'You can see where he was scratching all around the door here. And then there. And then you can see the scratches on the knob itself,' Bailey told WCIV as she pointed to the marks.
She said that a neighbor messaged her about the surprise visitor and that she didn't believe it until pictures of the alligator in her yard and on her porch were sent.
'I thought it was a joke. And the first picture she sent me was from over here,' Bailey told WCIV.

'And I couldn't see it on the porch. And then they sent me the video front on and I was in disbelief. Couldn't believe it. I mean who would have thought -- an alligator!'
Bailey said that despite seeing gators in the area before, she never would have guessed one would have come knocking on her door.
'I told my husband earlier I said we're going to get a gator crossing sign -- and we're putting it in the front yard,' she told WCIV.
Rogers shared that he took a few videos of the reptile roaming around in the neighborhood.
'Got some good shots of him. He was trying to climb the fence a couple times,' Rogers told WCIV.
'Tried to climb somebody's door. It was pretty funny actually,I'm not from the area, so seeing an alligator is interesting as far as I'm concerned.'
He added that the gator didn't cause any trouble while he watched the gator wander through the area for an hour.
'The gator was not aggressive at all. He was just kind of trying to find his way out,' he told the television station.
'I mean he was caught between fences, in between a couple of houses. Had no place to go. Went around the air conditioner a couple of times.'
Of the unusual encounter, Bailey said: 'I was in disbelief. Couldn't believe it. I mean who would have thought -- an alligator!'
