A Washington state man who was arrested after driving recklessly was found to have a monkey on his back - literally.
The man had apparently gone ape when he was spotted by a State Trooper driving at 112mph Wednesday on SR 509 in Burien, 10 miles south of Seattle.
But it was when when the man went off the highway and crashed his vehicle that things really went bananas.
Ready, marmoset, go: This unnamed man and his pet monkey, which appears to be a marmoset, were picked up by Washington State Troopers Wednesday after he was clocked driving 112mph
The driver exited at South 128th, but quickly lost control of his car, crashing into a rock in a suburban yard.
According to witnesses, man then tried to flee the crash - but turned back for his pet monkey, which was still in the vehicle.
He then fled, with the monkey still on his back.
His fuzzy pal turned out to be more of an albatross around his neck, though, as it made the 30-year-old easy for responding officers to identify, said Police Capt. Bryan Howard.
The man was arrested for fleeing the scene of a crash, but the monkey refused to be held by officers.
They had to call the man's mother to pick up the animal, which appears from photographs to be a marmoset.
'Once we determined the monkey was not the driver, we released him to a family member,' the Burien Police Department said on its Facebook page.
'He was only engaged in monkey business,' they added.
The man is not being identified by police, but is said to be a resident of Burien.
Ape escape: The man ultimately crashed into a rock in someone's garden, but turned back after fleeing his vehicle (pictured right) to collect his monkey. Officers then idenified him easily because of the animal
