Rod Stewart jets off to New Zealand with wife Penny Lancaster and their sons following his Australian tour

Rod Stewart has completed his Australian tour alongside Cyndi Lauper and Jon Stevens despite suffering a bout of strep throat in the midst of his visit. 

Now the British rock legend, 78, has been spotted jetting off to New Zealand with his wife Penny Lancaster and their sons Alastair and Aiden on Tuesday. 

The London-born singer rocked a preppy look at the Sydney international airport, wearing a cream sweater with black detailing over white skinny jeans. 

He accessorised with a pair of old-school white converse sneakers in a high-top style as he used a white umbrella as a walking stick. 

Rod's stunning wife Penny, 52, put on a leggy display as she donned tiny pinstripe shorts with kitten heels and a white long-sleeved shirt to protect against the cold.

Proving she doesn't always go for the designer names, the model-turned-police officer accessorised with a brown Zara handbag as she used a separate black bag for carry-on luggage. 

Rod recently revealed Penny will be on duty as a police officer at the King's Coronation concert in May on the grounds of Windsor Castle.

Penny applied to become a special constable after taking part in reality TV programme Famous and Fighting Crime where she joined officers on the beat.

During filming, she was at one point confronted by a drug dealer who threatened to stab her.

The mother-of-two, who married Sir Rod in 2007, said the experience inspired her to become a police officer.

Meanwhile, Rod angered fans earlier this month when he cancelled his Geelong show three hours before hitting the stage as he came down with a bout of strep throat.

However, the star returned to the city later in his tour to perform a make-up show for fans who kept their tickets.
