Making his mark! X Factor's Ray Quinn signs his autograph on the leg of celebrity tattoo artist

Having performed on X Factor and Channel 4's Brookside, Liverpudlian star Ray Quinn should be accustomed to signing autographs.

But the 25 year-old was given a slightly more unusual request, this weekend.

Rather than sign a traditional autograph book or poster, the Dancing on Ice contestant was instead asked to leave his signature with indelible ink on the leg of celebrity tattoo artist Kevin Paul.

The exchange happened after Quinn, a father of one, used Derby-based Kevin for his own growing collection of body art.

A tattooist to the stars, Kevin's client roster includes One Direction's Harry Styles and million-selling singer/songwriter, Ed Sheeran.

In addition, his celebrity fan base also includes the likes of X Factor winner Matt Cardle, Marcus Collins, Aiden Grimshaw, Frankie Cocozza, Dru Wakely and Made In Chelsea's Oliver Proudlock.

As a keepsake of his high-profile commissions, Kevin frequently asks his favourite stars to sign their names on his legs - an impressive list which now includes Quinn.

Making his mark alongside the guitar and signature drawn by Ed Sheeran in 2013, Ray also detailed an ice-skating boot as a reference to his participation in ITV's reality competition Dancing On Ice.

Ray, who won the Dancing On Ice crown in 2009, is back on the show for a second attempt to win the coveted winner's trophy.

But the competition is fierce as he is up against past winners such as Suzanne Shaw (Series 3), Hayley Tamaddon (Series 5) and Beth Tweddle (Series 8) to name a few.

Fortunately, Ray's trademark confidence has not been lost. He recently wrote: ''If you voted for myself and @mariafilippov last night I'm truly grateful. Next skate...I'm gonna smash it! I won't let you down!!! #DOI'

He followed up the posts by saying how much he is looking forward to next weeks performance, writing: 'So excited about our next routine!...eek!!! #sohappy #DOI'
