In her element? Kristen Stewart wows with a rare set of relaxed and happy portraits at the Sundance Film Festival

She notoriously dislikes the 'celebrity' aspect of being a celebrity.

But the usually moody Kristen Stewart seemed relaxed and happy - even smiling at one point - when she posed for a series of portraits at The Collective And Gibson Lounge during the Sundance Film Festival on Friday.

The enigmatic 23-year-old actress was at the festival to promote her latest movie, Camp X-Ray.

Wearing a short sleeved blue and white striped shirt over the top of a loose-fitting white tank, the star looked much more comfortable in her own skin than she ever has in a fancy gown.

Her old favourite black skinny leg jeans completed Kristen's ensemble, whilst an array of dog tags were slung around her neck.

The starlet's long brunette tresses were braided on one side of her head, creating a unique and flattering silhouette as she had her photo taken by the venue's photographers.

Quirky: This is far from her usual red-carpet look with tight dresses and sky high heels

And Kristen clearly felt much happier working the androgynous look, than in the pretty fashion-forward gowns she has previously rocked while promoting her Twilight franchise.

With braids in her hair it was clear the actress had put thought into her outfit - even if it was not the expected red carpet look.

Once inside the venue, Kristen removed her jacket to reveal a striped shirt worn over a white T-shirt as she posed for pictures with her co-stars.

The Peter Sattler-directed movie features Kristen as a young Army guard at Guantanamo who makes a connection with a prisoner played by Payman Maadi, the star of Iran's Oscar-winning A Separation.

Kristen told the LA Times: 'It had been two years since I worked, but it wasn't my choice to take a break.

'Nothing had given me that compulsion, nothing that made me feel it was meant for me to do,' she added.

Famously uncomfortable with her fame, Kristen revealed that she hoped the unplanned break had dimmed the intense interest in her private life.

'It's not easy for people to understand my discomfort with the spotlight, they say, !Why would you become an actor if you feel that way?"' she said.

'People don't know what to do with those feelings, they feel you're ungrateful, and that does kind of kill me.

'You can't be saying, "You're wrong about me," the worst thing is if you remotely sound like you're complaining. Then you become the misconception.'
